New playground opens in Fresno shelter
The ribbon cutting for Grace's Place playground at the Hacienda Campus took place back in December, but the finishing touches on the 11 murals covering the walls of it weren't complete until Saturday.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The final touches were put on the new playground at a local shelter for women and children.

The ribbon cutting for Grace's Place playground at the Hacienda Campus took place back in December, but the finishing touches on the 11 murals covering the walls of it weren't complete until Saturday.

The idea of the playground was from 16-year-old Grace Bernhardt, a student at University High School. "Every minute, every lunch hour that I've spent on this is absolutely worth it," Bernhardt exclaimed. "I see these kids running around, it just it makes it worth everything that I've spent on it."

Over the last two years, she worked with private and corporate donors to raise nearly $200,000 to open the playground.
