Financial aid event held at Fresno State

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Local students are getting some valuable help in paying for college.

The Fresno County Office of Education hosted its 6th annual Free Application for Federal Student Aid event Saturday.

Bilingual staff members were available at nine locations throughout the valley, including Fresno State.

Organizers say completing a FAFSA application is critical to prospective and current college students to determine their eligibility for federal programs. "Services are very important, Victoria Soto with the office said. "There are families who aren't sure about getting free money, FAFSA help, scholarships so we do have a couple of workshops going on here."

Several vendors were also on hand at Fresno State to help students with financial planning and answer other questions about student aid.
