Investigators are trying to find out what caused several chicken coops to catch on fire in southwest Fresno.

It happened on a half-acre lot near Fig and Roy Avenues around 8 p.m. People were seen trying to rescue the chickens.

There's no word on how many may have died. But firefighters say they were able to protect surrounding structures, and no humans were hurt.
