FOWLER, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Fresno County business has found a way to take an ordinary glass of wine and make it into a piece of artwork.
Here's a behind the scenes look at Vino & Bling and a look at their success.
It's always wine time at Vino & Bling. With fun sayings etched on its glasses like "wine flies when you're having fun" and lots of rhinestones, the Fowler business has found its niche in the wine community.
"It's a $3.8 billion business. Wine drinking has come out of the sophisticated vineyards to tasting rooms all over the U.S.," said Sid Chacon, Vino & Bling Cofounder. "It's the new beer."
Sid Chacon, a former fire investigator, started the business in 2014 after some tough times. " If it wasn't for me getting laid off, I would have never pursued this full time. We would have never come up with the blinged out wine glass."
Chacon was able to take his hobby of etching glass to the next level.
We got an inside look at how he crafts each wine glass. First it starts with a design. Then the special film goes on the glass and then into the etching machine. After the glass is cleaned, it's time for sparkle! The Swarovski crystals are put on one by one.
"We've actually produced a product where you can actually put these glasses in the dishwasher, you can scrub them as hard as you want and the stones wont come off," said Chacon.
In its short time, business has taken off with online sales. They've been able to go to an Emmy's pre-party and meet celebrities like Ed Asner -- and reality stars have also picked up their glasses.
"One of the most notable celebrities that have purchased from us are actually the Kardashians. We did some glasses for the Dash Miami store," said Chacon.
The personal glasses come in long or short stem. They have even made beer glasses for others. The owners say they have received a lot of support from wine drinkers here in the Valley and beyond.
"It's kind of nice knowing there's a Vino & Bling glass in Canada and Australia, but we have a big East Coast presence. We thank social media for that," said Chacon.
Success that means the world to this Valley based business.
