FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Nearly 60 students were at Fresno State Saturday, touring the engineering department's original tiny house and the newest one started this weekend.

The children were there with the Explore Engineering Saturday Academy. They get to work with engineering students at the college.

Organizers say it's a better way to give students a real glimpse into what engineers do on a daily basis. "It shows them more practical because you can say things to them like, 'oh engineers are building robots, engineers are building buildings,' and it's just like they can actually see something that they've actually done," Fresno State student Shivani Kumar explained.

Students participating range from third grade to eighth grade.
