Firebaugh boy injured after being struck by car

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A 5-year-old boy is recovering from injuries after he was hit by a car near Firebaugh High School.

It happened just before 5 p.m. Friday night. Police are investigating what led up to the crash, but they do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved. The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with officers.

Witnesses say the boy may have wandered away from a nearby baseball game where his brother was playing.

He was flown to valley children's hospital as a precaution.
