FRESNO, Calif. --We often associate Brussels sprouts with tasteless boiled veggies we had to eat as children but here is a new take on Brussels Sprouts that will leave you asking for more.
- 1 lb Brussels Sprouts
- 6 slices bacon, chopped into 1" pieces
- 2 TB olive oil
- 1/4-1/2 cup brown sugar
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Bring a pot of water to boil. In the meantime cut stems of Brussels Sprouts and cut in half. Put in boiling are for 3-5 minutes, then drain.
- In a skillet, fry bacon pieces for a few minutes then add in drained Brussels Sprouts and stir. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle on brown sugar making sure to coat all the russet sprouts. Cook on medium for 15 minutes until sugar caramelizes and the veggies brown.
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste and serve immediately.
