Fitness options are expanding in Clovis with the opening of two new studios in the city.

Pushing yourself to the limit just got a little more fun in Clovis at a brand new business-- Urban Block Fitness. "We work out with a purpose. So when you come in here, it's not just about losing weight-- we want you to get fit," said Rebecca law, Urban Block Fitness.

Law, who also runs Fight Girl Fitness in Fresno, has joined efforts with her fiancee Brandon Robla for a new health venture. "Fitness is a passion of ours. It's something we've always been involved in. So we work out as a couple, and I thought, there needs to a be a place where other people can work out together that's family friendly."

Located at the corner of Shaw and Armstrong, the studio offers a mix of cardio vascular to weight training to kickboxing to its clients. It's focused on small group training and building community, something important to Robla who grew up in Clovis. "I went away for the military. We're a veteran owned business. It was important to come back to where it all started for me."

Memberships start at about $55. A grand opening will be held Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

Also in Clovis, The Bar Method will open a new studio at Herndon and Clovis. "We are so fortunate that we have grown so much in the last two and a half years, that Clovis seemed like the next step for us," said Jenny Hoekstra, The Bar Method owner.

Hoekstra said the unique training method of combining ballet, pilates, and core strength exercises, has taken off in the area. The new building will feature a big studio for classes and a kids club. It will serve about 20-percent of their clients who already attend the Fresno location. "Coming out here will allow us to have a little smaller classes so that we can focus on the newer clients. Whether that be in Clovis or Fresno, and share that bar love around both cities," said Hoekstra.

Fees are around $85 for a new member

Construction on the building is expected to wrap up in the next couple of months. The Bar Method will hold a grand opening May 16.
