19-year-old arrested in Merced County child porn case

MERCED COUNTY (KFSN) -- According to the Merced County Sheriff's Office, 19-year-old Vasco Daniel Gomes was arrested for possession and distribution of child pornography.

The Sheriff's Office received information on Tuesday from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) about Gomes. Analysts from NCMEC shared information from Twitter about inappropriate photo uploads depicting underage children committing lewd acts and more than one thousand searches for child pornography.

Gomes was taken into custody during a traffic stop in Hilmar.

Sheriff's deputies say Gomes admitted to uploading child pornography in an interview.

He's being held on a $500,000 bail.
