SANGER, Calif. (KFSN) -- Authorities are trying to find out what sparked a two-alarm fire inside a Fresno County home, where officials found marijuana growing on the property.

The house was a total loss after a fire ripped through it around 8 p.m. on Thursday. Firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading to other homes in the neighborhood.

The people who live there weren't home at the time. Authorities say they found about 500 marijuana plants growing in the back yard.

Firefighters said the fire seemed to be centered somewhere in the middle of the 3,000 square foot home but they're not sure what started it.
