'DOGS BLOW 14-POINT LEAD, ALLOW CSU WOMEN TO WIN MW TITLE

LAS VEGAS. (KFSN) -- The Fresno State Women's Basketball led Colorado State by 14 points at halftime. But the Bulldogs couldn't hold on as the Rams win 55-54 in the Mountain West Tournament Championship game.

Fresno State PG Shauqunna Collins' shot as time expired was off the mark and the loss ends any hope for the 'Dogs to earn an NCAA Tournament bid. Senior Alex Furr scored a team-high 12 pts in the loss. MW Defensive Player of the Year Bego Faz Davalos scored 5 pts & 8 rebounds.

The 'Dogs will still make the postseason for the 9th consecutive year. Fresno State (21-11) will play in the WNIT and will look to host a game in the tournament.

"Yeah, I feel like I should just sing a sad song right now. A coach always wishes that your players play the best on the biggest stage. And I really felt like our kids did that." Said Head Coach Jaime White.

"Well of course I'm sad, I think my teammates did an amazing job tonight. They really did, they played with their heart and I think it was just the last play. The last play was the one that was just not good for us." Added Faz Davalos.

"Honestly it's really saddening. It really is, but I feel like it's hard for me to feel the loss because I knew we fought hard and all season." Said Senior Center Toni Smith.
