FRESNO, Calif. -- A driver crashed into a fire hydrant, sending water shooting up 50 to 60 feet and onto power lines in Northwest Fresno.

Police say around 1:30 a.m. on Friday at Gettysburg Avenue and Channing Avenue, a white mini van crashed into the hydrant, sheered off the top, and created the geyser. No one was hurt.

City work crews will now spend a good part of the morning fixing the broken water hydrant. They've already shut off a valve.

Residents in the area did not lose their water or electrical service. Investigators do not know why the driver lost control and crashed.
