FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police are looking for the people who set fire to a church in Northeast Fresno.

It sparked at the Holy Spirit Parish Hall on Champlain Drive and Friant Road late Wednesday night. Fresno Police say they responded to a burglar alarm at the church and found a side window broken and a fire burning, that they say was intentionally started. Police were able to quickly extinguish the flames.

At the same time, unknown to the police officers, the Fresno Fire Department was on the other side of the building putting out another small fire. Authorities later found a gas can near the second fire and called out the arson investigators.

Witnesses say they saw at a 25 to 35 year old man, possibly wearing a gray baggy sweatshirt with a red symbol and green camouflage running eastbound from the scene.
