Downtown Fresno's Central Fish Company unveiled a new look
Good Friday is one of the busiest days of the year for Central Fish but this one's even busier.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Good Friday is one of the busiest days of the year for Central Fish but this one's even busier.

"We wanted to bring something that was popular in LA and SF to the Central Valley," said Charles Chang, Central Fish Assistant General Manager.

To add to their already existing gift shop the local fish market has expanded the upstairs to add Daiso. A popular Japanese dollar store equivalent. The addition is months in the making-- it started with ordering select Daiso items..

"We started ordering more and more as we got the demand for it," said Chang.

From clothing to cookware all items are a $1.69. "Chargers, locks, crazy glue, knick knacks that are hard to find-- we carry them all in one section," said Chang.

Bowls, Tupperware, and plates are among the more popular items. Before you could only find Daiso in the bay and LA. Now that Central Fish has opened the only Central Valley location they said they've seen a boost in business. Their fast moving items.

Not familiar with Daiso products? Guess again! You'll probably recognize their dishes if you've been to Umi Sushi in Downtown Fresno.

"It's good looking, attractive, and hey convenient," said Ketut Sutama, owner Umi Sushi.

Sutama said he buys Daiso dishes for the aesthetic appeal-- not to mention the price. "Usually I go to San Francisco bay area to get it."

Knowing dishes are prone to break in the restaurant business Sutamo said he's now saving himself a three hour trip.
