Easter service continues at Fresno church despite arson attack
The suspects targeted Holy Spirit Church on Champlain and Friant late Wednesday night.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- An arson attempt targeting a Fresno church didn't keep parishioners from attending Holy Sunday mass.

The suspects targeted Holy Spirit Church on Champlain and Friant late Wednesday night. Authorities say two small fires were started on both sides of the church but they were able to put them out before any real damage was done.

Parishioners say though an attack on the church sounds scary, they feel like it actually pulled them closer together.

"It actually motivated people who might not have come to not only come and worship God," parishioner Esosa Imoisili said. But to, basically, be here and show that support."

Witnesses say they saw a man leaving the area at the time, and officers are still trying to find the person who did it.
