FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A well-known defense attorney and school board member has been arrested on drug charges.

Merced Police say Dominic Falasco was the passenger in a truck stopped for suspicion of drunk driving near M and Yosemite Streets around 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

Officers found methamphetamine in the pickup and Falasco admitted it was his. They also searched the 48-year-old and say he was in possession of more meth, marijuana, and rolling papers.

Falasco was elected to the Los Banos Unified School District Board in 2012.

He has also worked on some high profile cases including the 2007 capital murder trial of Tao Rivera, who was sentenced to death for killing Merced Police officer Stephan Gray.

Falasco bailed out of jail hours after he was booked on misdemeanor charges.

The driver was cited and released for driving without a license.
