NB 99 to 41 ramp reopened after car driving shooting victim to hospital crashes
Two major Fresno highways were shut down following a car crash and drive-by shooting.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Two major Fresno highways were shut down following a car crash and drive-by shooting.

Fresno police said a 19-year old man was walking down Clara Street near Dorothy Wednesday afternoon when someone in a light brown Chevy sedan drove by and shot at him. The victim was shot at least once in the lower torso before hiding behind a car.

Afterwards, a friend who was with him was driving the injured person the hospital. On the way, the driver missed a turn near the Highway 41 and Highway 99 interchange.

"It looks like the victim was in the vehicle and his friend was rushing him to CRMC and he got off on an off ramp, turned out it was the wrong one, tried to get back on 41, over-corrected, left the freeway, hit some signs. That's what caused the crash," said Lt. Joe Gomez, Fresno Police Department.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash and no one was injured.

The highways have since re-opened.
