Transgender event in Fresno hopes to break stigmas
People who went helped celebrate the accomplishments of transgender people around the world with singing and dancing and poetry.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A transgender day of visibility was held Sunday to celebrate the positives in the lives of transgender people.

It was held at Alliant International University and was hosted by Trans-E-Motion. People who went helped celebrate the accomplishments of transgender people around the world with singing and dancing and poetry.

The purpose of the event was to offer a new narrative to the transgender community rather than the negative narrative that's often portrayed.

"This is a day to celebrate the positive things about being transgender. This is a good day to be transgender," Zoyer Zyndel of Trans-E-Motion said. "We definitely want to highlight the good things to that are happy in our community and also give hope to people who are transgender that they too can be successful."

The event also included a resource fair showcasing transgender friendly organizations, food vendors, and businesses.
