FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Madera High School girl is helping other young students prepare for two important things in life.

The Girl to Girl Mentor Program brings professionals to campus and help improve education. Today, 44 students heard from several professionals including a race car driver and an attorney.

Participants are 8th-grade girls at Terronez Middle School and junior girls at Liberty High School.

It's founder, Clair Copher, hope the program will help the younger girls build leadership skills and confidence as the prepare for high school and the older girls learn about a variety of career options as they near graduation.

"The girls are responding so warmly to the speakers, they're impressed, they are writing down notes, they are really taking in and absorbing every thing that the speakers say which makes me proud cause the speakers really affect them," Copher said.

This is the second year of the girl to girl mentoring program, Copher will remain as a mentor after she graduates from high school in May.
