FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Excitement is growing Monday morning as dozens of local veterans are getting ready for the trip of a lifetime.

This is the ninth Central Valley Honor Flight. We are less than an hour away from the opening procession. It'll take place from the baggage claim to the terminal to the airport lobby. Sixty six men and women will be taking part in this trip to our nations capital where they will be able to see the memorials built in their honor.

The program started three years ago -- taking World War Two, Korean War, and Vietnam veterans to see their war memorials. On this flight, 26 hometowns and 10 different counties are represented by 4 women and 62 men who served in the Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines, Army Air Corps and the Air Force.

The plane takes off at 8 a.m. Monday morning and they return home on Wednesday night.
