Target's new bathroom policy prompted a protest outside a Clovis location
Target's new transgender bathroom policy sparked a protest in Clovis and dozens of people showed up on both sides of the issue.

CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- Target's new transgender bathroom policy sparked a protest in Clovis and dozens of people showed up on both sides of the issue. Those with signs were promoting a boycott of the store. Just feet away from them were people in support of Target's new policy.

Earlier this week, target announced that transgender customers and employees could use the bathroom that matches their gender identity. The issue has become the focus of a national debate.

"My daughter is at risk and I don't think that's right. I have nothing against transgender people, if Target wants to do something, put a transgender bathroom in, solves this whole problem," said Josh Fuller, against policy.

"I think it's ridiculous because there is no threat to their children. No threat at all. I think that what they're saying only promotes more hate and discrimination and that, I think, is a bigger threat to our children," said Zoyer Zyndel, for Target's policy.

During the protest, Target called in extra employees to help keep the peace.
