Group of FCC Soccer players earn trip to Miami.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- When an athlete is serious about a sport, the word off-season, really doesn't mean a whole lot. For a group of Fresno City College soccer players their love of the beautiful game has them taking their talents to South Beach.

"It's just awesome we are going, especially knowing that are all from Fresno, we all play at (Fresno) City and we are pretty much family together, so it's going to be a fun trip," says FC Rats player Kalea Ashley.

Affectionately nicknamed the Fresno Rats, a group of 5 men and 2 women earned 2nd place at the first ever Neymar Jr's Five global tournament at Calwa Park in Mid April. The 5-on-5 Futsal style tournament had a unique set of rules, a smaller playing area with matches lasting only 10 minutes or until 1 team has been completely knocked out.

"It's just great how it came along with soccer. We won in soccer that's how we are getting to Miami, it wasn't a trip, it's all paid off and you are going to play your favorite sport, soccer, it's an awesome feeling," says Rats soccer player Andres Rios.

The team will play in the U.S. Finals in Miami on June 11th and the U.S. champion will advance to Brazil for global tournament championships in July.
