VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- An elementary school in the south valley welcomed some special guests to their campus today, two of Fresno State's top dogs.

Fresno State President Dr. Joseph Castro and the school's mascot Victor E. Bulldog, spent some time at Visalia's Crowley Elementary Monday morning. They were invited by Visalia non-profit pro-youth.

Castro says it was an opportunity to meet with possible future Fresno State students, to encourage them to shoot high, and dream big.

"And one of the reasons why I came here is that I heard that 90% of the students here are growing up without fathers. And I wanted them to know that even though I grew up without a father, that I was able to achieve my dreams and that i believe in them," said Dr. Joseph Castro, Fresno State President.

Dr. Castro will return to Visalia soon. He said Fresno State is expanding programs with both K through 12 school districts, and College of the Sequoias.
