Man barricades himself in neighbors house with child

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man is in custody after he barricaded himself inside his neighbors home alone with their child.

Officers were called to an apartment complex in northwest Fresno to investigate a domestic violence issue, when police say 26-year-old Svay Phelang fled the area and ran to a neighboring room. The victims told police their child was still inside, and because of a prior medical condition, needed to be overlooked.

Fearing for the child's safety, officers made their way into the room and arrested the suspect. The child was found unharmed.

The man is now facing several charges related to probation violations and child endangerment.
