TULARE, Calif. (KFSN) -- A surprise for a young woman in the South Valley on Wednesday. She won her very own car and it came from a raffle she didn't even enter.

Chevelle Dukes, 18, received a 2003 Ford Taurus. On the windshield signs read: "a Ford for Chevy -- her nickname.

The car was raffled off to raise money for Freedom Christian Academy. However, the actual winners thought Dukes was more deserving. She has a full plate as a new high school graduate, working as a teacher's aide and also helping out at the family business.

Dukes said she shares a car with her mom and she was saving up to buy one of her own.

"It's the biggest blessing. Oh goodness. I never in a million years would have thought anybody would do it for me, and help me out this much."

Dukes is going to the College of the Sequoias in the fall to study Ag business.

The actual winners of the car did not want to be identified-- wanting all of the attention and focus to be on Dukes.
