FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) --Kids off for summer vacation in the South Valley can now receive free lunches.
The Summer Food Service Program is sponsored by Foodlink for Tulare County.
The program starts Monday and provides free lunches for kids ages one to 18. The lunches meet USDA nutrition standards and include milk.
One busy location is Manuel Hernandez Community Center in Visalia. Officials there say they average anywhere between 85 and 150 kids each day.
"Yeah, it's more than a meal, it's a chance to meet some friends, hang out with your friends, meet new friends, and just enjoy the summer and beat the heat," said David Herrera, Visalia Parks and Recreation program coordinator.
Most locations serve free lunch through late July or early August.
