East coast fave Rita's Italian Ice comes to Clovis

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- An east coast favorite has made its way into the Central Valley, just in time for the hot summer months.

Rita's Italian Ice opened for business at Shaw and Clovis Avenues, across the street from Sierra Vista Mall.

The shop offers 12 flavors of "water ice" and 10 flavors of custard made fresh daily.

In the weeks leading up to the opening, a lot of people have stopped by, curious about the east-coast craze.

"The hype has been out there for a couple months already a lot of people are starting to wonder what we are," store manager Joe Burrus said. "It's a real smooth, creamy type of slushy and it's real smooth, real creamy."

Rita's Italian Ice will be open seven days a week.

Owners tell Action News plans are already in place to open up another location in the Clovis area sometime next year.
