1 killed after driver of stolen car runs stop sign in Kings County

KINGS COUNTY (KFSN) -- One person is dead after the driver of a stolen car ran a stop sign in Kings County. #abc30insider video shows the crash at Barstow and 6th Avenue around two Thursday afternoon.

CHP officers said they were chasing 28-year-old Victor Zavala in a stolen Corvette in Tulare County. But they called off the chase after they lost sight of it.

They said Zavala then sped through a stop sign at 6th Avenue crashing into an SUV.

Twenty-one-year-old James Moreno was in the SUV and died from the crash.

Two other adults and a 14-month-old child also suffered major injuries.

Zavala's passenger also had major injuries.

He's been booked into the Kings County Jail.
