Valley World War 2 war hero honored

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Valley war hero who survived the Battle of the Bulge was honored.

David Aguilar, 91, was an Army sergeant in World War II. Friday, he was honored by State Assemblyman Jim Patterson's Office as part of California Holocaust Remembrance Week.

Aguilar's last battle ended in Leipzig, Germany at the Battle of the Bulge, fighting in the second infantry division.

In the years since his service Mr. Aguilar has been awarded the good conduct medal and the bronze star among others.

In 2015 he received the French government's highest award, the legion of honor, for his service.
