1 man shot in the head and taken to the hospital in East Central Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno police are investigating a shooting that sent one man to the hospital in East Central Fresno.

According to police, the man was found shot in the head in the area of Chestnut and Shields. The man said he was shot at his apartment complex, Sycamore Heights, at Sierra Vista and Shields.

Fresno police have shut down Shields Avenue from Chestnut Avenue to Maple Avenue.

Officials say the man was conscious and speaking when police found him.

The victim has not yet been identified and is in serious but stable condition.
