For a lot of people, the hardware store is the go-to place for everything for air conditioning.

And that is vital to those who work outside after a long day in this heat.

It takes a brave soul to work on hot roads in triple digit heat.

Fortunately, Steve Reyes has two on his feet.

"We stay, like, 12 hours, 11 hours a day on our feet without sitting down," he said.

He's geared up for the heat from head to toe, and on a day like this he says he'll drink at least two gallons of water.

"It's pretty tough," Reyes said. "Especially because you're in the sun all day."

In Fresno, Tuesday was slightly warmer than Monday.

The temperature hit triple digits, for a second day in a row and it had fans and replacement pads for swamp coolers in high demand at Fresno Ag Hardware.

"This will empty out, twice a day - easily," store manager Kevin Suebert said.

Suebert says there has also been a rush for AC filters, which is what Bob Smart picked up.

However, he says this was more of a precautionary purchase.

"I come in to get some keys made but I needed a filter too," he said. "So, kill two birds with one stone."

Kevin says it was a good idea.

He says proper maintenance is key and it's best to stay on top of it to avoid a break-down and an expensive repair bill.
