Woman pleads not guilty for hit-and-run of prominent Fresno doctor
Dr. William Dominic was critically hurt when he was struck on his bike, and police say it was Brianna Sandoval who struck him and never stopped to help.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Brianna Sandoval pled not guilty at her arraignment for the hit-and-run crash last February.

Dr. William Dominic was critically hurt when he was struck on his bike, and the driver never stopped to help.

Brianna Sandoval stood next to the private attorney her family hired three days ago.

Fresno Police Officers say had just left a club when she's accused of slamming into Dominic on Fresno Street near Gettysburg Avenue.

"I'm just into the case, but I can tell you that she is a very nice young girl who unfortunately may have made a mistake in judgment," Sandoval's attorney Dan Bacon said.

Bacon wants to see the evidence against Sandoval.

Officers recovered her beige compact car when she was arrested. Bacon is especially looking for medical records that show the extent of the doctor's injuries.

"I don't know that the charges as they are set forth are accurate because it requires permanent injury, substantial injury that is permanent, non-recoverable from," he said. "I don't know the status of Dr. Dominic, but we will find out."

Action News sat down with Dominic before Sandoval was caught.

"I'm not looking for vengeance," he said in May. "But I think it would be appropriate for this person to feel the full weight of the law because I am concerned they may be a danger to other people."

Investigators searched for Sandoval for months but it was an anonymous tip that finally led officers to her.

She will be back in court in August.
