Apartment fire in Southeast Fresno sends 4 kids and 1 adult to hospital

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Firefighters are still trying to figure out what started a fire in Southeast Fresno that sent five people to the hospital overnight.

It sparked near an upstairs unit at an apartment near Kings Canyon and Sunnyside around 2:30 Thursday morning.

Four kids and one adult were treated for smoke inhalation, but are expected to be okay.

Investigators believe the fire may have started on the balcony of the victims' apartment.

The unit below also suffered damage from smoke and water.
