FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man is in critical condition after an SUV slammed into him Friday night in northeast Fresno.

The crash happened at Fort Washington and Friant Avenues around 10 p.m. when a Cadillac Escalade hit a pedestrian in the street. The driver of the Cadillac had the right-of-way as the man jumped out in front during a green light, police say.

Multiple lanes have been shut down by police as they investigate how the crash happened.

The man was transported to Community Regional Medical Center where he is expected to survive.

The driver of the SUV stopped at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.
