FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man is under arrest after police said he stole his girlfriend's car and drove through her garage and into other parked cars. It happened Wednesday in Northeast Fresno.

Police chased 31-year-old Joshua Wilkins after they say he crashed a Toyota 4-Runner into a tree and then ran away. Police caught and arrested Wilkins half a mile away.

They said he was at his former girlfriend's house when he took her vehicle and drove against traffic on Fresno Street. He then used the car to ram into the complex garage and two other parked cars.

"There's the garage, there's a brown car by the garage he struck. He backed up, struck this vehicle to my left. Of course the 4-Runner is damaged. He hit a tree. There's severe damage to that vehicle," said Lt. Joe Gomez, Fresno Police Department.

Police arrested Wilkins for DUI, driving with a suspended license, hit and run, felony vandalism, and auto theft.
