FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A local pastor is hoping a community event will help bring an end to violent incidents.

Saint Rest Baptist Church in southwest Fresno had its parking lot and yard filled with kids and adults Saturday evening at their church block party.

There was food and different types of games and activities for the those who attended.

There were even Hmong dancers who performed.

"We tried to bring different cultures together by having a massive event almost like a festival just to bring some healing to our community especially in the season that we're in in our nation," Pastor DJ Criner said.

Criner said the mayor of Fresno, police chief, and the Fresno County sheriff attended the event as well.
