Pedestrian killed in Northwest Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The California Highway Patrol was investigating a deadly crash at Shaw Avenue at Maroa Avenue.

A man was hit Wednesday morning as he stepped off the curb into the west bound lanes. The victim was apparently wearing dark clothing and the driver who hit the man is cooperating with the investigation.

At this point it appears no charges will be filed. Investigators described the victim as a man in his 50s.

The area near Shaw and Maroa was closed Wednesday morning, but has since reopened.
