Man shot in the hand in Central Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. -- The search is on for a gunman following a bizarre shooting in Central Fresno.

The incident happened around 7 a.m. at Pontiac Way and Effie Street at the Pepper Tree Apartments. Officials say the victim was inside a vacant apartment working on a bicycle when another man road up on a bike, and from outside an open window, opened fire with a shotgun.

The victim was hit once in his hand. He's expected to survive, but will probably lose his hand.

Police say the man with the shotgun rode away on his bike.
