FRESNO, Calif. -- As that first day of school is now just weeks away, thousands took part in Saturday's Back to School Bash at Sierra Vista Mall in Clovis.

Backpacks were given out filled with supplies likes pencils and paper.

Kids also had fun engaging in a wide array of activities where they could win prizes for their family.

"I think it's important to bring our community together," Natalie Khan with the mall said. "We like to get in, get tied in with our partners, get the kids involved and have fun activities for them and celebrate going back to school."

The event was sponsored by the Clovis Police Department, Fresno County Public Library and Clovis-Area Recreation.
