Ultramarathoner adopts dog who ran 77 miles with him in Gobi Desert
Ultramarathoner Dion Leonard has adopted Gobi, a dog who faithfully kept up for 77 miles as he ran through China.

Thanks to a successful crowd-funding campaign, an extreme marathon runner from Scotland is adopting a stray pup he met while running a 155-mile race through China's Gobi Desert.

The female dog, whom Dion Leonard named Gobi, joined him on the second day of the race and ran side-by-side with him for 77 miles.

After the race, it was clear the unlikely pair had developed a special bond and Leonard started researching ways to bring Gobi home. He also started a fundraising campaign, Bring Gobi Home, to help pay for the relocation.

Four months and $7,000 later, Gobi has been medically checked, quarantined and cleared for his move to Scotland.
