FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A grassroots organization is trying to help businesses along Blackstone Avenue.
And on Sunday, they held their First Annual Better Blackstone Community Fair to help their movement.
Organizers say about a couple hundred people showed up at the Vineyard Farmers Market. It's all to help businesses get more shoppers in their stores and to reinvest in what they call the spine of Fresno.
"We're trying to get property owners and businesses and neighbors and institutions to all want a better Blackstone," Keith Bergthold with the Fresno Metro Ministry said. "One that's thriving and safe and healthy and clean and attractive."
Organizers say they've researched other cities with thriving thoroughfares and found that businesses that formed relationships with their community were more successful.
