FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) --Hundreds of teaching fellows from across the valley were at Fresno State Saturday to get ready for the new school year.
The academy is put on by the California Teaching Fellows Foundation and more than 1,800 fellows came out for special development training - most of them local college students who want to be teachers.
They're all working in nearly 300 schools as far north as Merced County down to Tulare County.
"We get them to these professional development offerings not just at the start of the year but ongoing monthly professional development so that they have the tools necessary in their tool belt to be effective leaders, mentors, coaches and trainers for our kids," Rico Peralta with the fellowship said.
The fellows got to choose from 30 breakout sessions, such as classroom management and intervention techniques.
