FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man is recovering in the hospital Sunday after he was rescued from nearly drowning in Fresno County.
It happened around 3 p.m. near Skaggs Bridge.
When crews arrived the man was on shore suffering from an apparent spinal injury.
We're told he was conscious and breathing as he was airlifted to hospital. Friends of the victim say he had been jumping off of the limb of a tree into the river when he jumped head first into a shallow section and was knocked unconscious.
Friends were able to get the victim to the shore.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were related.
