Kern County wildfire continues to burns
The Cedar Fire in Kern County has so far scorched more than 1,600 acres and is five percent contained.

KERN COUNTY (KFSN) -- The Cedar Fire in Kern County has so far scorched more than 9,500 acres and is five percent contained. It's burning ten miles east of Glenville-- about 40 miles northeast of Bakersfield.

A recommended evacuation has been issued to the communities of Alta Sierra, Slick Rock and Shirley Meadows.

The communities of Panorama Heights, Poso Park, Sugarloaf , Sugarloaf Mountain Park, Sugarloaf Village, McClenney Tract, Balance Rock, Idlewild, Spear Creek, and Summer Homes are currently under mandatory evacuation. The evacuation center will be located at Porterville College.

The flames broke out Tuesday and there is no word yet on the cause.
