New Clovis ice cream shop has a twist - liquid nitrogen
Creamistry had their grand opening Saturday at the Clovis Commons Shopping Complex and their ice cream has a unique spin for these summer days - they hand freeze each ice cream to order using liquid nitrogen.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A new ice cream store in Clovis is blasting away the competition with liquid nitrogen.

Creamistry had their grand opening Saturday afternoon at the Clovis Commons Shopping Complex on Herndon and Willow.

The store specializes in frozen delights with a twist - they hand freeze each ice cream to order using liquid nitrogen.

You start by selecting from four of their different bases - a creamy ice cream base, an organic base which is light and fluffy, a sorbet base or a coconut base - which is a vegan option for those who can't consume dairy.

"Lactose-free, egg free, soy free and gluten free so that allows our customers who are intolerant to lactose," owner Dhruv Doshi said. "That opens up more flavors for them because you can pretty much take any flavor and make it a vegan ice cream."

Liquid nitrogen is negative 321 degrees Fahrenheit, which Doshi said makes the ice cream more dense and creamy.

Doshi said they hope to add more staff once the store is up and running.
