Over a dozen without a home after central Fresno apartment fire
Initially, there were reports that someone was trapped inside and two people suffered burns to their hands and feet.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a 2-alarm apartment fire in central Fresno early Sunday.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. on Brooks Avenue Near McKinley and West.

Fire crews said a tree caught fire before spreading to complex.

Initially, there were reports that someone was trapped inside and two people suffered burns to their hands and feet.

A total of 15 people were displaced because of fire.

"I was able to find some of my school clothes and some of the clothes that I had left. My mom lost some of her new work uniforms," said Joseph Patino, who suffered burns to his feet. "We're going to get through this."

The Red Cross is now assisting those impacted by the blaze.

There is no estimate on damage or why the tree caught fire.
