MADERA COUNTY (KFSN) -- Job seekers in Madera County put their best foot forward as they came face to face with dozens of employers. Child Support Services of Madera County held their first job fair in honor of child support awareness month-- recognized statewide during the month of August.

"Children are important to everyone, especially in child support, and if we can't support the families then we can't support the children. And so, we really want to make sure people know we're here to support the community and the families," said Raeanne Jain, staff service analyst.

In addition to more than 20 vendors showcasing jobs and training opportunities, the employment event had parenting resources on hand.

"We have social services signing people up for healthcare and some other

social services child support," said Jain.

The idea is to help children by bringing job opportunities and resources to

their community.

"I'm looking for something full term that I can grow with and I can provide my skills, whatever I have to offer, with this company," said Ebony Buckner, job seeker.

Buckner is here for her 14-year-old son.

"My son is autistic, so yes, I'm a single mother that's raising my son, but he's the joy of my life."

Buckner not only works hard to provide for her son she makes sure he's able to participate in events like the Special Olympics and other sports programs.

"My son represents me so I just want to make sure that everything is going to be okay. So once he's okay I'm okay, and I can go out here and challenge the world for him because I'm doing this for him."
