Wildfire threatens homes near Pine Flat Lake

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- UPDATE: Officials said, as of Sunday afternoon, containment was at 50 percent and that all evacuation orders and road closures had been lifted.

A wildfire burning in the Sierra Nevada foothills Saturday afternoon is threatening homes, a Fresno County Cal Fire official said.

Authorities said the blaze started near Sunnyslope Road and Lakeside Lane in Fresno County and is threatening 50 to 85 homes close to Pine Flat Lake. The wildfire has burned 100 acres so far.

Authorities have called for mandatory evacuations for residents along Dane Lane, south of Sunnyslope Road.

Trimmer Springs Road was shut down by authorities while crews work to control the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Fresno County Sheriff's Office has set up an evacuation center at the Sanger Community Center located at 730 Recreation Avenue.
