FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Two brothers are out of surgery and recovering after being shot in front of family and friends in Central Fresno Wednesday. Now authorities are searching for a young suspect.

Gunfire erupted just after 10:00 a.m. in Central Fresno on Thomas Street near Thesta. Police said, a 14 or 15-year-old boy walked up to family members sitting on their front porch and shot at the two brothers. The victims are said to be 21 and 24-years-old.

Police said the shooter actually had come by the house earlier in the morning to ask the victims about a man named Roy.

"They know who that is but he's not there-- this Roy. Then they come back, the shooter comes back, with a couple other people," said Lt. Joe Gomez, Fresno Police Department.

This time, police said, the young teen fired at the victims at close range. This happens all while their mother, sister, and other family members were inside. The victims' mother, who did not want to be identified, told Action News after the first encounter she brought her three-year-old granddaughter inside because she had a bad feeling.

"Then the kid just pulled out this gun-- a big, shiny, silver gun and my one son was like, 'woah' and then he just started shooting. He just started shooting-- hit both of them."

Scared, the family members screamed and called 911 as the shooter and the three other teen suspects ran away.

"I was frozen-- there was six of us on the front porch and the kid, even after he shot the gun, he looked-- he looked as if he was nervous," said the victim's mother.

Neighbors said they heard the terrifying sounds and ran outside to see what happened.

"When I approached, over there at that home and they say, 'I knew I seen a boy,' he said, 'I got shot right here.' And the mom went running inside and that one said he could hardly breathe," said Isabel Gordon, neighbor.

Police describe the shooter as 14 or 15-years-old. He was wearing a white T-shirt and jeans and has what they described as a bucket hair cut. Officers have detained three of the four teens they were looking for Wednesday.
