FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Yosemite National Park is 400-acres bigger after the largest expansion in nearly 70 years.

Park officials announced that Ackerson Meadow is now part of the park. It had sat along Yosemite's western boundary. You pass the area when heading to the Hetch Hetchy reservoir.

The area was purchased for $2.3 million and then donated to the park.

Yosemite officials plan to preserve the land as habitat for wildlife.
